Bio:
Johannes “Jos” Van Dijk was born 1913 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was educated in Paris at Academie des Beaux-Arts, Academie Colarossi and Académie Ranson as a student of Maurice Denis. Returning to Amsterdam he was a student of Hendrik Adriaan van der Wal (1882-1963) and studied at the Rijksnormaalschool voor Tekenonderwijs and the Rijksacedemie van Amsterdam. Here “Jos” embraced many different styles of painting.

Earlier in his career he painted more traditional Dutch style works with old world city-scapes, ships at sea, and typical Dutch style paintings. Later in the 1960’s he became interested in modern colorful and vivid floral still life with very thick impasto. He continued to paint and exhibit until the early 1970’s. He died in 2000.
