This elegant 19th Century Empire ormolu-mounted black marble portico clock is from France. The floral-and-foliate ormolu-mounted frieze sits above four Doric columns with gilt bronze collars and bases and surround the workings. The dial is surrounded by gilt bronze and displays black hand-painted Roman numerals with a gilt-bronze center and housed in a gilt-bronze acanthus-leaf bezel over a floral and double swan detailed pendulum. The clock rests on an ormolu-mounted plinth base with gilt-bronze pad feet.
